Electra and Gemini – Chinchillas
Electra and Gemini came to us when their owner decided to stop keeping and breeding chinchillas. They were initially quite fearful of human contact, but have now blossomed into delightfully friendly girls. They give me thank you kisses when I top up their hay each morning and quite enjoy a gentle tickle. The girls appear to be in good health but their previous care wasn’t ideal so Gemini sometimes fur pulls and both will need regular dental checks. Their new home need not be a n experienced chinchilla keeper as these girls are quite easy going. However, you will have researched their care, be able to provide a large metal cage, and be willing to commit to provide them with an excellent level of care for potentially the next 15 years. We have successfully introduced the girls to other chins (and degus) while they’ve been here, so they should also be fine to mix with existing pets.

Peaches, Petit Pois, Pebbles, Porsche are Dwarf hamster
These girls were the result of their parents being mis-sexed in their previous home. They came to us when they were only a couple of weeks old and have been handled regularly since, so are exceptionally friendly. Honestly, if you’ve heard that dwarf hams are nippy or hard to handle then these girls would love the chance to prove you wrong. They adore human interaction, climbing happily into your hand for attention and none have ever bitten. Pebbles and Porsche were homed to a family with children but returned through no fault of their own. We are therefore confident that they’re suitable for a home with responsible kids. Peaches and Petit Pois are both very confident, active girls with big personalities, and would love a home where they will get lots of attention and opportunity to play outside the cage. The girls decided they didn’t like sharing once they grew up so are all looking for homes individually.

Cabo and Lleno Are Degus
These degus came to us when their owner passed away, but was not discovered for several weeks. Sadly, many of her other pets did not survive. Although they were initially traumatized, they have responded amazingly to our care, and are now amongst the friendliest and easiest to handle degus we’ve ever had here. They adore human attention and will happily climb over you and accept strokes and tickles. They are very cheeky, especially Lleno, who likes to try to sneak past you so he can go and explore! Their new home needn’t be experienced with degus, but you will need to have researched their care and be able to provide them with a large metal cage. The two boys are very easy to tell apart, as Cabo only has half a tail. Degus are delightful pets and those who already love rats will also appreciate their similarly cheeky personalities but much longer life span.
